Provincetown's annual Women's Week celebrated 40 years this October. Authors' chats and readings are a regular feature, so Womencraft's organized the first annual Women's Week Book Fair. Cannabis: A Big Sisters' Guide, had a table with dozens of other authors in Provincetown's historic Town Hall.
We had great conversations with many women about using cannabis for wellness. One woman told me she bought my book when it first came out. It helped her manage pain and she lent it to several friends to help them too. Another woman bought a copy to educate her girlfriend. It was great to meet old fans and new readers.
During Women's Week, our historic Town Hall also featured talks by several amazing women including swimmer Diana Nyad, the first woman to swim from Cuba to the US. After 4 failed attempts, she finally succeeded at age 64. Annette Benning and Jodie Foster give a powerful rendition of her story in the movie Nyad. Nyad's message is to "Never, ever, give up."
I was also inspired by Rita Mae Brown and Holly Near, both icons in literature and music. They both emphasized that your story matters.
